Gosainkunda Lake Trek

For those that are in search of tranquility and solitude; the Gosainkunda lake trek will definitely exceed your expectations. Tantalizing views of the snow-laden mountains along with religious hymns and a chilling sense of liveliness is what builds the Gosainkunda lake trek and furthermore, prepares for a spiritual awakening too. Traversing through the Langtang National Park, the Gosainkunda Lake Trek is a brilliant depiction of the beauty of the region.

The trek commences in Kathmandu and after exploring the major UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley; then we prepare the necessary equipment and documents. Afterward, an 8-hour drive takes us to Dhunche with picturesque views of the Trishuli River, green hills, and far away mountains along the way. From Dhunche, we begin the long walk to Thulo Syabru. The route amazes us with a delightful display of wilderness and slight glimpses of Tamang settlements. The trail gets a bit steep and uphill on the trail to Lauri Binayak. The views of the Annapurna and Langtang Himalayan range further invigorate us.

Walking along mountain-side cliffs and desolate land ultimately leads us to the Gosainkunda Lake. The lake sits on the base of mountains and its water feed the Trishuli River. This place is a pilgrimage hub and you can see people busy in prayers here. The lake has a religious history that dates back to Lord Shiva. After exploring the lake, we begin our way back. We head towards Chandanbari and along the way, we can see local people and fellow trekkers. The descending trail demands full attention and we take a breather at Shin Gompa. From Chandanbari, we again back at Dhunche. Then we will take a vehicle, to drive back to Kathmandu.

A trek like this demands proper assistance and knowledge. We, at Danphe Adventure Treks, specialize in this aspect. With years of experience and expertise, we provide full support to anyone that wishes to trek with us at reasonable rates.

There is no age restriction for doing this trip, but if you are under 16 it will better to trek with your parents. You must be health-conscious during the trek.

You will stay in the Hotel while you are in the city of Kathmandu, which is like a 3-star category. The hotel has access to showers and intermittent internet.

But while you are in trekking Tea House/lodges are the place where you spend the night during the trek, which is very basic. The room is pretty small with twin sharing and a common washroom. Some places have squat style toilets, whilst others have a western style. Shower does not always offer warm water and most teahouses will charge you for use of a hot shower.

Meals will be served as per the menu of the teahouse/lodges. Where you can find a variety of dishes like Indian, Nepalese, Tibetan, Continental, etc, to choose. Tea, coffee, bakery items, snacks, bars eggs, etc can also be found easily.

The currency used in Nepal is Nepalese Rupees (NPR). You are unable to get NPR outside of Nepal and therefore you will need to exchange money in Kathmandu. The easiest currency to exchange is USD and Euro. You can also withdraw NPR from the ATM but check with your bank about the relevant charges to do this.

Yes, there is  facility of bank and ATM at Sybrubensi and Dhunche.

There is a huge change of AMS problem i.e. Acute Mountain Sickness problem. It may cause some problems as you trek higher above 3500-meter altitude (11,482 ft.). But don’t worry about that. We have carefully designed our Gosasinkunda lake trek itinerary with sufficient time for acclimatization and less walking time each day. And our experienced trek guide will be helping you with it.

Yes, you need to be insured before the adventure trekking in Nepal from your home country. However, we will be always with you taking care of throughout the whole Gosainkunda lake trek.
